Description
CHARACTERISTICS
Waxing a parquet floor with heat is without doubt the method that gives the most beautiful result. The most beautiful old parquet floors of the great houses have always been treated like this. We can hot wax a floor already waxed with encaustic or a sanded old or new floor.
PREPARATION
For a waxed floor with encaustic, it is advisable, for easier application of the hot wax, to strip the floor with our wax remover 0888 and steel wool No. 2 or steel wool (see FT 0888). For a new or old sanded parquet : for a new parquet, you can stain before waxing with water based stains 0010 (many colors) because new wood is always very “white” (see FT 0010). Once stained or not, new or old, it is possible to protect the floor by using the Antitâche 0516 primer (see FT 0516) which will prevent water stains.
Puttying and filling: Older floors may have cracks, holes or accidents. If the damage is very serious, you can fill it with polyester wood filler 0607, which is adhesive and available in different colors. In addition, it “takes” the color (see FT). If the damage is minimal, after waxing, we can fill in the holes with our 0011 waxes, many colors (see FT).
APPLICATION
Application: It is necessary to have a hard wood spatula (beech) or kitchen spatula, a heat gun, a hand brush or for tampico drill or a waxing machine. After preparing the floor, melt the wax in a water bath. When it is liquid, using the wooden spatula, apply the wax in the direction of the wood grain. Using the heat gun, heat the wax and work it into the wood. When the wax has cooled, remove the excess with the spatula and shine with a brush on a drill or waxer.
Yield: 4 to 6 m2 per kg.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
